In second Round I managed to get a draw against 72-year old guy whose name was Guy because he was (and still is) Frenchman. His rating was much lower and he had no games in Chess-db database, so I decided to go for a win at any cost.
1. e4 g6 2. Nf3 Bg7 3. d4 d5 {I tested this “club opening” on RHP several times in my recent tournaments. I saw it in semifinal of Serbia in March where it was played by WGM Andjelija Stojanovic with surprise and success.} 4. exd5 Nxd5 {yep} 5. c4 c6 6. Nc3 {better was dxc6} cxd5 7. c5 O-O 8. Bf4 {?! White is aiming to Nb5, but he has no time for this. Even I felt this.} Nc6 9. Nb5 Bg4! 10. Be2 Ne4 {? Nice “school move” but it was better 10. …Bxf3 11. Bfx3 Qa5 and following Qb4 and Black wins a Pawn and has better position.} 11. O-O a6 12. Nc3 Bxf3 13. Bxf3 Bxd4 14. Nxe4 dxe4 15. Bxe4 e5 {Bxc5!? was better but I “calculated” White would achieve drawish position, ha ha.} 16. Bh6 Re8 17. Qc1 {not precise} Qh4 {Rac8 was better, but I didn’t take obvious moves into consideration in this game.} 18. Bd5 {!} Nb4 {?; I was trying to win, so I jumped into complications, since I thought again other moves would lead to drawish ending. How vane of me.} 19. Bg5 Qg4 20. Bf3 {Not the best. 20. h3 was good for equalization but I wouldn’t have played best move 20. …Qf5, because I was only thinking of 20. …Qg3?, which should be refuted by 21. Kh1, said Rybka later. But would White found thos move OTB? I doubt it.} Qf5 21. Bxb7 Rab8 22. c6 Nd3 {? I felt compelled to play this so as to win, “calculating” for 25 minutes some wild variations after eventual taking on f2 with Knight. But, I had advantage now, and I should take Pawn on c6 in cold blood, 22. … Nxc6 23. Bxc6 Rec8! 24. Rb1 Qe6 and the point is that White Queen cannot defend both Bishops. Easy positional way to gain advantage and extra Pawn. Again I didn’t see forrest because of a single tree.} 23. Qd2 {? With Qc2 White could exploit my mistake in previous move. I would have to play e4 on Qc2; now it is about even position again.] Nxf2 {?? Blunder. Better was Nc5 with little advantage for Black. Even 23. …Bxf2 24. Kh1 e4 was much better for me.] 24. Be3 Qd3 {? I could lose because of this bad move. 24. …Ne4 of which I thought most of the time, was better. I saw I would lose exchange, so I believed “I found a sollution” and was in fact proud of Qd3 during the game. Even my opponent in our quick chill-out analysys in the hotel bar commended this move. Ha ha.} 25. Qxd3 Nxd3 26. Bxd4 exd4 27. Rfd1 {??; blunder; White had 27. Bxa6 Nb4 28. c7 with gaining extra exchange and more-less won position.} Nc5 28. Rxd4 Nxb7 29. cxb7 Rxb7 30. b3 Re2 31. Kf1 {I wanted to play Rb2 when he offered a draw, and for once I accepted it (as I had promissed to myself in Malta!, ha ha). At my hotel appartment, later, my Thirld World Rybka 2.3.2. for developing countries showed that Black had –0.54 of advantage in final position. I played it against Rybka three times and it always was draw. But I was only me and Rybka was still Rybka even that Red Cross free edition.. Having in mind that I could get into lost position few moves earlier in the game, it’s not a tragedy. But it is patzerish from my side.}
edit 4 -> I don't know what-s wrong with pgn. Will try later today now I have to prepare for 4th round.
