There is a bigger gap between world number 1 Magnus Carlsen and number 2 Levon Aronian than there is between Aronian and number 16 Anish Giri in the latest Live Ratings.

The thing that i find amazing is if you look at the all time highest live scores on that page, Fischer is still ranked 13th, 41 years after he retired!

The gap is widening. Is Carlsen that much stronger than everyone else?

    #1 Carlsen 2870.0, #2 Vladimir Kramnik 2796.4 (+73.6)

    #2 Kramnik 2796.4, #28 Teimour Radjabov 2723.0 (+73.4)

He must be since the rating is based on how many games you win....
My question is, does he have the strength to get to the 2900's?
I think he will be losing points during the coming world championship, even a draw means a point or two and there WILL be a bunch of draws.

I think if he can keep his motivation he will dominate chess like Kasparov did for 15 years.

Anand and Kramnik are great players but they were only first among equals. A bit like the Soviet World Champions of the 1950's n 60's.
