    Marburg virus was first identified in Germany and viral hemorrhagic fever is one of the possible causes of the Plague of Athens of 430 BC. There's no particular reason why not, it's believed to be carried by fruitbats and crab-eating macaques so unlikely to become endemic outside its natural range, it is not airborne so actual contact is required to catch it. There was one case in the UK at Portland Down of a laboratory worker who survived.
