Anyone ever listen to him here? In my opinion, he was one of the greatest lyricists of all time. I mean even better than Bob Dylan.

I dunno. I mean, comparing the two is one thing, but then to say Eminem is better? To say that boggles the mind is an understatement. I'm just speechless. I wouldn't even go so far as to call him a lyricist. And I know everyone has an opinion, but come on.

    “Was”?

    Is he dead?

He doesn’t seem like a very nice guy, but the song “Stan” is very good.

Bob Dylan is one of the most overrated artists, competing
only in hype with Andy Warhol.

So, yeah, why not, Emilio is a better lyricist.

well, Like a rolling stone was voted the best rock song of all time, at least so far๐Ÿ™‚ Of course rock is following the path of folk music in the 60's so maybe of all times is correct. Like saying the sony walkman CD player was the best of all time since they don't make them any more and so it had it's day and maybe was the best of the bunch so it is safe so say the sony cd walkman was the best of all time for that genre.

But Dylan's early songs were certainly game changers, like Time's they are a Changing, or Blowing in the wind. Nobody recently has bettered those or like Hard rain's a gonna fall, the content is something totally lacking in music today. Like the song that won the oscar, "things have changed' from Wonder Boys, he said at the oscar ceremony, this song doesn't pussyfoot around or turn a blind eye to nature', that is like his early songs.
Words like 'how many deaths does it take till you know that too many people have died'. You don't find content like that in modern songs.

I believe rap music and Bob Dylan (musically, at least) are both subjects best approached from a satirical angle. The Sisyphean pretentiousness invloved in taking either too seriously is a full time (and crushingly unrewarding) job.

If you quoted a few lines or stanzas as an example, it might help to see where you are coming from on this.
