'Inductive inference hasn't let me down in the past so I have no reason to think inductive inference will let me down in the future'.

Does anyone have an personal stories about how the above example of inductive inference has let them down in the past and how they go about guarding against it happening again in the future?

Because answers are likely to be about the human spirit and the human condition and could also be about the part inductive inferences play in forming [spiritual] beliefs and in modifying them over time as experience and reflection take effect.

In that case, I agree to participate.

Inductive inference HAS let me down in the past, and THAT is why I will continue to re-examine and, if necessary, modify my beliefs in the future, including my beliefs about the trustworthiness of inductive inference.

Which bit strikes you as "stupidity"? The tongue-in-cheek 'quote' in bold?

Do you have any story about how inductive inference has let you down in the past and how you have gone about guarding against it happening again in the future?
