It was a dark and stormy night.

His glass eye had fallen out, and had rolled down the street. He despaired of digging throught all that muck to find it.

Meanwhile, on a small farm in Kansas, a boy was growing up.

Playing in an irrigation ditch, the boy-- Frank by name -- uncovered a glass eye, and wondered how it got there.

The assassin cursed under his breath as the fat boy collapsed and farm hands rushed to his aid. Three failures in the last three attempts. The Guild didn't forgive that level of incompetence.
