What is the difference between the
    Old Indian, Ukrainian Variation 4. Nf3 (A54)
    ...and the
    Philidor Defense, Exchange Variation (C41)?

The first 6 moves can lead to the same position. Is it only the move order that makes the difference or maybe the way White plays 1. c4?

    Look Below
    -------------
    Old Indian, Ukrainian Variation 4. Nf3 (A54)
    1.c4 Nf6 2. Nc3 e5 3. Nf3 d6 4. d4 exd4 5. Nxd4 Bd7 6. e4 Be7

    Philidor Defense, Exchange Variation (C41)
    1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 exd4 4. Nxd4 Bd7 5. c4 Be7 6. Nc3 Nf6

Of course there is no difference at move 6 unless one lad in the 1.c4 game
does not realise he playing a Philidor or visa-versa and gets his theory mixed up..

In the exchange variation of the Phildor White gets a reasonable position
with 4.Qxd4 then pin the c6 Knight with Bb5. That is what Morphy played.
He also played 4.Bc4 instead of taking back on d4 this is called the Morphy Gambit.
