Carpe Diem, i say! |

Unsustainably. I still say it would be fun.

But who would get Virginia this time? it would be divided in three, with one third being given to each of 1. native Americans, as compensation for taking their land; 2. African Americans, as compensation for slavery and Pat Boone; 3. Mexican 'illegal' immigrants, as compensation for all that below minimum wage labour. |

Carpe Diem, i say! Good riddance to them, I say. The greatest mistake we made after the Civil War was to force them back into the Union. We should have let them go ahead and form their own impoverished third world theocracy. Without them blocking progress at every step of the way, the north could have developed into a progressive utopia. But noooooooooo... |

Exactly! Canada is also run on a capitalism economic model. Other than the single payer healthcare system, their economic and social model is really not all that much different from ours. |

They have single payer healthcare AND proportional representation. A Canadian/European version of democratic socialism is probably the best that can be hoped for. |

Nothing stimulates an economy like war. Right you are. The wars in Iraq and Afganistan have really been a big boost to the American economy. Everything is just rosey now...right?? |
