Your comment about move 8. Yes, I did hang the e4 pawn, but couldn't I just do this, or is this not really the best?

Good game and you took your chance when the exchange sac popped up.

I thought the idea was if 8...Nxe4 then 9.Nxe5.

Seems to kick things off and opens up the game, hopefully in
    favour of the castled player.
It was either drop the e-pawn or play Bxc6+ or Bd3.

Now that you mention Nxe5 that would have worked too. Thx! So was Bxa6 a poor choice overall if Nxe4 occured?

Just to make sure, you are suggesting this was the line?

    1. Nxe4 Bxa6 {exposing the e4 knight to my rook-I've maintained material parity. Or is the e file pawn considered more important than the a file pawn?}[/pgn]
You've started a desperado war when both sides have hanging pieces. The hanging pieces can go kamikaze. ...Nxf2 hitting your Q is a possible response.

No, white would counter by attacking black's Q.

    Why Nxc6 and not Qxe2?

Ah, I do see that. So it was a risky line! After Be2 I thought better of it and was pleased to see my opponent had been happy to keep it uncomplicated.

The normal thing to do is 8.Ba4, going back to either b3 or c2.

Good game! Move 29 is instructive, and good to finish with Rxf6!!
