So where do you think that the US ranks among the nations in terms of freedom of the press?

If you had ranked the US in 2011, they would have been ranked 20th in the world. However, today they rank a dismal 47th.

    http://www.valuewalk.com/2014/02/u-s-ranked-46th-press-freedom-rankings/

The US was ranked due to the following considerations.

    1. Ramped up efforts to track down whistleblowers and sources of leaks.
    2. Ongoing surveillance of reporters in federal agencies.
    3. Government bringing charges against freelance digital journalist Barrett Brown, who now faces 105 years in prison for sharing a link to stolen classified data.
    4. New Your Times reporter James Risen is also facing jail time for refusing to incriminate a CIA whistleblower.

Hope and change kids. Hope and change.

Here is another whistleblower who is putting his life on the line. It is nothing short of the commissioner of the FCC, Ajit Pai.

    http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/02/20/meet-the-fcc-commissioner-whos-blowing-the-whistle-on-his-own-agencys-planned-study-of-newsrooms/

So Ajit is blowing the whistle on his own agency who has been ordered to gather information to "figure out why they cover the stories that they do."

Ajit simply stated that he is concerned over potential violations of the first Amendment stating, "government doesn't have a place in the newsroom."

So what you're saying is that the US should be more like Finland?

I would anticipate most Obama supporters are at this point.

That's an interesting comment coming from someone who mainly consumes the sort of media product that is unavailable in Finland.

Is this the best retort for basically saying that Obama and company are nothing but a fascist regime?

This sort of hysterical dramaqueening is generally not a part of the media landscape in the countries high on the list.

How else would you describe a decrease more than double what the US was ranked before Obama came to power?
