I'd love to see smoke belching from a General Motors EMD F9 locomotive once again. 🙂

Canoeing up the lake to the waterfalls that empties into the stream that goes to the next lake and sitting there with a book and reading and listening to the wonderful sounds of the water cascading over the falls and falling asleep, for just enough time to rejuvenate for the return trip to "the cottage". I miss those idyllic times of my youth.

Ahh, canoing with my brother on little, crystal clear, and I mean that literally, spring-fed rivers in Florida, usually beyond any sounds except those we and nature made. The biggest adventure, away from the quiet, was to Homosassa springs, where we were legally entitled to swim (in spite of its being a commercial tourist spot) as long as we didn't touch shore. Tied the canoe to a cypress stump and swam around like skinny manatees.

He transported his 18 foot canoe upside down on a frame he built on top of his VW Beetle. Quite a sight.
