WHAT IS 2 + 8 + 9

Well, it could be 2. I don't know if there's enough information to be able to say for sure.

I dispute your interpretation of the word "correct". If you'd used "desired", or "Mgt.-mandated", you'd have been right. But given the problem as stated in your first post, 2 is exactly as correct as 10 - if not more so.
