    I was lucky enough to meet him, say hi and shake his hand at the 1982 Boulder Open. He was very business like but also pleasant and personable.

    I saw a game played between Walter and Larry Christiansen at the Santa Monica chess club, they were playing with so much intensity they didn't see anyone else in the room. And it was just a skittles game!

    I saw him at the U.S. open in Atlantic City NJ., which he won (over Larsen). He would play blitz backgammon in the skittles room. Go in peace, Walter.
