Maybe someone here can help me with my quest....

I've been looking for a good chess graphic that I could get a tattoo of. The RHP pawn has been the best I've found so far, but I'm still looking for a better one (no offense, Russ).

Anyone out there know of a chess based design that would make a decent tattoo?

I have been doing a bit of research on the same topic. I have several tattoos; one of which is really large, and I'd like to get a chess tattoo on my ribs. Let me dig up the image I've in mind...

Edit: I'm having trouble finding it. At any rate, I'd keep it simple. A stylized piece outline would be the coolest.

Maybe you could try a King or a Queen with a King symbol on it and a game being played on the King or Queen. Try looking at some tattoos and some fantasy art for some ideas.

Order this t-shirt and find a good artists (not just a tattoo guy). If he doesn't have a portfolio for you to look at, don't even consider him. And if he does, make sure you like it.

Seems like a cool design.

Nice one! Thanks.

I hadn't seen that one before and I think that it would transfer into a good tat. I already have an artist that I use. I'll have to get the shirt and take it down to him.

It's a good picture, but I don't it would transfer to a tattoo very well. I pretty much need just a 2-D design.

The ones that are drawn as 3-D look good for awhile then tend to resemble garbage when the fine lines and shadowing start to fade.

Thanks, though.

Post a pic of the tat if you go through with it. I'm sure everyone would get a kick out of it.

I like that one.
Pretty fine details in it though. I think I could vary that one a little (fewer peices, maybe simplify the 'board') and make a nice tat.

Thanks. I'll add that to my list of possibilities.

I'll definately go through with it. It will be about my 16th tattoo. It's just a matter of when - finding a design I like a and getting it drawn into a tatoo. I'm expecting to get it this summer.

I submit it to RHP faces after I get it.

I was on this same quest a couple of years ago. I found an image once of a Knight that looked like the head of some kind of demon horse on a base. I haven't been able to find it since. Another idea I had was to use the RHP pawn (fire and all) set against a 2x2 chessboard background on the diagonal. I have no artistic skill though, so you'll have to try to visualize these images.

*Edit: Anyone think Russ and Chris would kick in a free lifetime membership to the first person who gets the RHP logo tattooed?

LOL. I doubt Russ will go for a lifetime membership, but it sure would be nice.

I like the RHP pawn as well. That's been leading the pack of possible images so far. The 2x2 board might be a nice touch also.
