Free meal (lunch) - why is it so beloved?

More than paycheque.
In his book "Road less traveled", Scott Peck says: "I got a paycheque and had a free lunch to-day. What do you think which gave me bigger pleasure?"
He didn't bother to answer.

Why no one says no to free meal? What's the magic in getting one free meal?

So the saying goes. In fact most people inviting for something free want a payback in the one or other form.

And many people invited to a free lunch would like, no doubt, to give back in one way or another. I think.

Many a saloon in the U,S. used to offer a free lunch. Pleased patrons then had more cash to spend on drinks.

There is a certain pleasure in giving without reward.

And receiving without payment.

In fact it could be a relationship thing.
We feel appreciated when getting a gift.
We feel generous when giving.

Having a positive emotion is called "feeling good".

However we do have a problem if the gift is not a gift, but a bribe or a bait.

You will all be in your graves a lot sooner than you think.
