Promotion is done in two steps, or moves if you like. The move to get to the last file and the move to choose your piece. It could well be that your opponent didn't complete the second step in promotion.

If this isn't the case, then send feedback at the bottom of the page, detailing the problem.

What surprises me is that it's possible to move the pawn without promoting it. Shouldn't that be impossible?

The game history shows e takes f1 (queen) Why it still shows the pawn is a glitch, alright.
But the previous comment about the game is correct.

ahh yes. When we first click the game we see a black pawn on the first rank. Then running history back and forth it becomes a black queen.
