it's because you're still a provisional player and the persons rating you beat was pretty low...once you've finished 20 games it won't happen again....actually if you played some high ranked people and lost at the moment you're rating would go up.

it's just the way the rating system works until you've played 20 games.....they're trying to get your true rating.
