Ladder challenges

I'm new to this "Ladder" thing, and I'm trying to work my way up the "3-day Timeout" ladder.

I have not been challenged in a while, which leads me to ask:

Does a Ladder challenge supersede the maximum game limit I set in "My Settings"? I keep that number low so I can control my workload.

no, it's like the next round of a tournament starting, if someone challenges you you'll get the game whatever your settings are.
