Nothing to do with RHP, Basically I have an elderly friend who decided to get up to date with the times, and bought himself a computer. He is using window, I think the 'XP' version. Any way he created a user account so every time he turns on his computer he has to log on. Unfortuneately he has forgotten his password so he can't get in.

Anyone know how he could by pass it?
There must be some computer hackers out there that know!!!

If your password hint does not help you remember your password and you did not create a password reset disk, you will need to have someone with a computer administrator account create a new password for you, a computer administrator cannot recover your password if you forget it; he or she can only create a new one for you.

Edit: or you can download this tool http://www.loginrecovery.com/

    Thanks.

The problem is the guy whos locked himself out remembers his password but it doesnt work, neither do any variations of it. I cant create a new account for him as I cant get in to do so, and i dont have a password recovery disk.

Try going in to safe mode and then go to user accounts [via control panel]
Or type into the regedit box [start/run] control userpasswords2 and highlight the admin account and click the reset password button.
[For safe mode click f8 continually while rebooting]

I have a problem with my comp at work, it doesn't login as
adminitrator, so I can't even download spybot. This comp has
obvious spyware problems, like some supposed spyware scanner
that just happens to come up on reboot plus the comp is slow as
molasses. So is there a way on win 2000 to become an admin
when you have only a limited account?
It wasn't my original comp, a lot of people are gone from my
company now and this was a spare, too lazy to get my old
one. There are comps floating around with admin privilege
so its not a big deal but this one got zapped with spyware and
the IP dude only shows up about once a month.

Easiest way that I've tried was at this link, its free but they offer a priority service cheap as well which is a lot quicker.
    Worth a look.
If you had the install disk you could reformat or do a repair install.

edit, oops just noticed that was already suggested.
