1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Qxd5 3. Nf3 {3.Nc3 is what they expect. So don't play it.} 3... Qd8 {It's legal but c6 answering an eventual Nc3 with Qa5} 4. d4 e6 {I bet the c8 Bishop liked that move.} 5. Bd3 c5 6. O-O cxd4 {Of course the plan was 7.Nxd4 Qxd4 8.Bb5+ winning the Queen. But then I looked at Black's non-developed pieces.} 7. c3 dxc3 8. Nxc3 a6 9. Qe2 Nf6 10. Rd1 Qc7 11. Bg5 Be7 12. Bb1 {I want to keep the Bishop. Back to here so as not to block the Rooks.} 17... Bd7 18. Nxe5 fxe5 19. Qf3 {Plan A.Qf6 take the h7 pawn and run my h-pawn like a rat. Plan B. Please play the most obvious move on the board.} 19... Bc6 {Yes!} 20. Rxc6 bxc6 21. Be4 Ke7 {Damn! I missed that. I I only saw 21..Re7 when 22. Qf6 Rook any and Bac6+ and wins.} 22. Qa3+ {22..Ke8 Bxc6 is mate.} 22... Kf6 23. Qf3+ Ke7 {Now what.....} 24. Qa3+ {I have an idea.} 24... Kf6 25. Rd7 {With Qe7+ and Qf3+ up my silver sleeves. (silver sleeves was my nickname at school because I never had a hanky.)} 25... Kg7 {25...Qe8 or 25...Rf8 was what I was expecting. Now I have this.} 26. Qe7 Rf8 {It's probably gone now no matter what Black plays. This gives me a mate.} 27. Qg5+ {Marko resigned. He's a good player but has over a 100 games on the go and moves very quickly. I usually have good games against him.} 27... Kh8 28. Qh6 {28...f5 to stop Qxh7 mate then Qg7 mate.}

1. e4 e6 2. Nf3 {Johnny Watson in his book on the French does not like this...all the more reason to play it.} 2... d5 3. e5 c5 4. b4 {The idea a WIng Gmabit with a locked centre. Won about 4 times as many games as I've lost with it and that is the about the same OTB.} 4... c4 {4...axb4 5.a3 bxa3. 6.Bxa3 and the Frecnh Bishop is off the board.} 5. d4 {You must sac a pawn in this line. It's in the spirit of the opening.} 5... Bxb4+ 6. c3 Ba5 7. Ba3 Nd7 8. Be2 Bc7 9. h4 {A common 'unsound' idea of mine. Use the pawn to open a wound or as bait. The Rook joins in v Rh3 and King castles by hand.} 9... f6 10. Nbd2 fxe5 11. dxe5 Nxe5 12. Nd4 {Hmmm...not looking good. The only plus I have is he is playing loads of other games as well. so need to keep bits on and find a cheapo.} 12... Qf6 13. Rh3 Nd3+ {Hope. Tha Knight was stopping me playing Rf3.} 14. Bxd3 cxd3 15. Rf3 {Looking good Hoston. Remember what I was saying about the h4 pawn as bait.} 15... Qxh4 16. Rf8+ Kd7 17. Qa4+ b5 18. Qxb5 {I do not think anybody can understand the absolute pleasure playing these wee trick shot mates give me. I'm so happy.}

It is important that White keep the 3rd rank clear of pawns.} 8... Nge7 9. Bd3 h6 10. h4 {Plan A where White castles by hand.} 10... Bd7 11. Rh3 Nf5 12. Bxf5 exf5 13. Rg3 O-O 14. Qd2 Kh7 15. Qf4 Be6 {No to take care of the King.} 16. Kf1 a6 {This and Black's next move not only get the counter play going there is another point.} 17. Kg1 b5 {With a bolt hole for the King at hh2 time to get on with attack again.} 18. Nbd2 Na5 {Good. Now the Black Queen is tied down to defending that a5 Knight so for a move it cannot aid in the defence of the King.} 19. Ng5+ {Not sure what happens if Black takes it. White gets a stonking attack down the h-file.} 19... Kh8 {Have to assume Black worked out taking the Knight was dodgy.} 20. Nxe6 fxe6 21. Rg6 {I'm OK here. I must have a perpetual at the very least.} 21... Re8 22. Rxh6+ Kg8 23. Rg3 {See note to move 8.} 23... Ra7 {The other idea behind Black's 16th and 17th moves.} 24. Qf3 {I have to juggle the pieces about to get into position for the kill.} 24... Rf7 25. Qh5 Kf8 {He runs but I have a cute trick here. The sleeping attacker in this game is the White pawn on e5. It plays an important part.} 26. Rh7 {Can you see the threat?} 26... Qc7 {Rats..(see next game) .But still this is a good wrap up.} 27. Rh8+ Ke7 28. Rxg7 {28...Rxg7 29.Qxe8 mate. The sleeping pawn on e5 cuts off the flight squares. 29...Rxh8 30.Qxf7+ then Qxc7+ and mate.}
