Since Bobby Fischer disliked Jews, Russians, Americans and almost everyone else he came in contact with, I'd suspect Fischer would have been some brilliant conspiracy theory guy who broadcast on the radio at 2 AM to a small following of equally disturbed folks regarding signs the world was about to end until the age of 45, then spent the rest of his life in the insane asylum after he tried to plant a bomb on the MIT campus because they proved to him the value of Pi had always been the same, and had not been altered as a result of a massive Jewish conspiracy . 🙄

He would have been multi/language member of jet set, film actor with a few cameos, quarter/finalist of Roland Garos and owner of a small hotel in Portorož.

"if bobby fisher had not found chess, what would he have become?"

I've no idea, but the first response on here would have been "Who?"

(Perhaps the question should be what would chess be like without Bobby Fischer?)

the Russian's would have held the championship for another 30 years and China would still be the next powerhouse of chess

Bobby was a very intelligent man,
he was a good reader, he was able to read books in Russian,
but it seems that in the school nobody notice his talents.

without chess maybe he could be a better student.

her mother was a doctor, so maybe he in that case of no-chess could be a doctor as well

in some way chess was a curse for this man

the key point in this question is REGINA FISCHER ....

why she never stop chess in his early years?
maybe chess was a cheap nanny?

In this case TV could be a good nanny instead of chess.

think about this: what kind of person left a child in a chess club, or in the next door apartment? It seems Regina was very busy to take care of him.

so maybe with no-chess the only place for him was reading books, TV and music, anyway he didn't like school, boring.... so he could be a good COBOL software developer !!.....maybe he could be a worker for Bell or IBM....

but I am not sure if he would be able to be a man of the academy life, like John Nash.....

    so COBOL developer

now this article said something interesting http://www.psmag.com/books-and-culture/a-psychological-autopsy-of-bobby-fischer-25959
