King in the center. Tactics.

  • 1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Ng8f6 3. d4 Nf6xd5 4. c4 Nd5b4
?! I just saw a video on this so I wanted to try it out. I don't like it very much. The Idea is that black can maybe play: Qxd4 and win a pawn. But with accurate play White gets the edge.
  • 5. a3 Nb4a6 6. b4 c5
!? Not liking my position, Hoping White will over extend (which he, luckily does).
  • 7. b5 Na6c7 8. d5 e6 9. Nb1c3 exd5 10. cxd5 Bf8d6 11. Bf1c4 O-O 12. Ng1f3
Now it looks about level. White is ahead in development, but Black can attack the weak pawns, the c5 Bishop isn't doing much and White's king is in the center. I think maybe Nge2 would have been better here, so that white could have castled.
  • 12... Rf8e8 13. Bc1e3 Bc8g4 14. h3 Re8xe3
! a little combination that wins two pieces for the Rook! and eases blacks burden by taking the initiative from white.
  • 15. fxe3 Bg4xf3 16. Qd1xf3 Qd8h4
The point! White's c4 bishop is undefended!
  • 17. Ke1d2 Qh4xc4 18. Nc3e4
    ? Gives up the e-pawn.
  • 18... Qc4xd5 19. Kd2e2 Qd5c4 20. Ke2f2 Nc7xb5 21. Ne4xd6
? I think there could have been a way for white to win the b7 pawn here, but I am not sure. I didn't even realize that weakness until this move, but luckily now Black can defend it.
  • 21... Nb5xd6 22. Rh1f1 Nd6e4
?! Not sure if this was necessary. White needed to move the king anyway and the Knight was protecting the f7 square.
  • 23. Kf2g1 Nb8c6 24. Ra1c1 Qc4e6
    Keeping an eye of f7.
  • 25. Rc1c2 Ra8d8 26. Rf1c1
?! I couldn't figure out what white was up to here. I thought he was planning to triple up of the f-file. But I guess he was planning on giving back the exchange to relieve some pressure.
