Annotated Chess Game 11899084 by SiloahCoach Annotated Games
1. e4 c5 2. f4
I love the Sicilian Defense, but I'm white, so here is my chance to try the Grand Prix.
2... d5
I wasn't prepared for 2 ... e5 at all.
3. Nb1c3 dxe4 4. Nc3xe4 Bc8f5 5. Ne4xc5 e5
Here I totally missed that black opened a discovered attack on my knight.
6. Bf1b5 Nb8c6 7. Qd1f3 Bf8xc5 8. d3 Ng8e7 9. fxe5 O-O 10. Bc1e3 Bc5xe3 11. Qf3xe3 a6 12. Bb5c4 Nc6d4 13. O-O-O
Not sure what black is up to, but can't take the knight, better castle now.
13... b5 14. Ng1f3 Nd4xf3 15. gxf3 bxc4 16. dxc4 Qd8a5 17. Kc1b1
Don't want to allow black Q x a2.
17... Bf5e6 18. Rh1g1
This move eventually won the game. Took a while to get the queen in for mate. But rook is in line to protect.
18... Be6xc4 19. b3 Bc4e6 20. Qe3g5 Ne7f5
An easily blocked attempt at mate. Black could also have taken white pawn at e5 and covered g7 with Q.
21. h4
Might get a pawn far enough to attack king defenses...
21... h6 22. Qg5g2 Qa5xe5 23. f4 Qe5a5 24. Qg2b7 Ra8b8 25. Qb7e4 Rb8b4 26. Qe4e1
Trying to immobilize the white rook for a little while.
26... Nf5d4 27. Qe1c3
Keep black rook and queen under threat, with a challenge to knight. Noted that if black went for a fork of white queen and rook, white would have clear path for mate, but not counting on it.
