Vienna Frankenstein Dracula variation.

  • 19. c3
    Yep.
    • 19... Nc6a5
A move with some positive aspects including trying gain the initiative but again probably not best.
      • 20. Bb3a4
I would have gone to c2.
        • 20... e4
The purpose of this was to clear away the d3 pawn and land a knight on c4 hassling the Queen and maybe b2 but in retrospect I'm not convinced this so called threat means very much.
          • 21. dxe4 fxe4 22. Qe3c5
If Nd4 I think white is probably better. He continues with his policy of trying to force exchanges but now he is only a nominal pawn up and a rook still to develop.
            • 22... Bb7c6
Offering the exchange of an active white piece and bringing the knight back onside probably helps black more.
              • 23. Ba4xc6 Na5xc6 24. Nf3e1
This looks horrible but if Nd4 then Ra5 wins the Queen.
                • 24... Ra8xa2
After 14 cut and thrust moves material parity is restored.
                  • 25. Kc1b1 Ra2a5 26. Qc5e3 Qf6e6
Taking aim at a2 and an attack on the king.
                    • 27. Qe3d2
This allows a mate by blocking a vital escape square. I dont know if he was nervous about b2 or wanted to come down the d file.
