My favorite RHP game so far after nearly a month on the site and 31 completed games.
1. c4 Ng8f6 2. b3 e6 3. Bc1b2 d5 4. cxd5 exd5
I already like this position - both my bishops have open diagonals and I’m basically one move away from castling.
5. a3 Bf8c5 6. e3 O-O 7. h3 Bc8f5 8. d3
I think white is making too many pawn moves.
8... Rf8e8
Because white is not close to being able to castle, this move seemed very natural
9. Nb1d2 Nb8c6 10. Ra1c1 Bc5d6
The dark-squared bishop is much better positioned on d6, even without the threatened capture by white’s queen’s rook
11. Bf1e2
White’s pieces seem so bunched together and cramped around the king that I immediately thought of sacrificing my rook to keep the white king in the middle of the board
11... Re8xe3
I couldn’t resist this sacrifice, though it by no means led to a clear win (as far as I could see.)
12. fxe3 Bd6g3
Logical follow up to the rook sacrifice
13. Ke1f1 Qd8e7
Eyeing white’s f2 square which is very weak and difficult to protect
14. e4
I expected this and thought it was white’s only move
14... Ra8d8
Centralizing my rook because I figured my light-squared bishop was immune from capture
