Please take your irrelevant topic to one of the many appropriate threads. This thread is about voting in a democracy.

It's obvious the original poster is fooled into thinking Trump being elected would make things worse.
The sad part is when Biden got elected the wars started. The border invasion started. The retail theft got out of control. The list is endless.

Imagine thinking Trump is worse because of some mean tweets and racial talk. Big deal 🙄
Everyone knows It's much worse under Biden but we live in an age where people absolutely refuse to admit they were wrong.
The original poster is not talking about anything other than the role of voting in any true democracy. Please do not go off topic by trying to bring parties or individual names into this thread.

" If you, the rational thinker, do not vote, you will by your failure to vote allow the fanatics and idiots to choose your next president. "

so, if you vote do you become part of the "fanatics and idiots"?

by your reasoning that would be the case
Something weird about your reasoning. What point are you trying to make?

In my country, children register to place themselves on an electoral roll maintained by a fiercely independent body with permanent indexed government funding guaranteed by legislation. All of their establishments have secure premises and printed voter lists which are used to check in arrivals at voter booths. Booths operate for 10 hours on the official voting Saturday, plus a range of hours over a 2-week period beforehand. Postal votes are easy enough to get and voter names are marked when they are issued. No charge is made for any of this, nor should there be.

It's not hard to do, but people need to want it to be done right. Voting really is the key to real democratic government.

    Back on topic:
The US has 350 million people who should each participate in every election which has the power to affect their lives. It's not possible under the current system, which forces them into one of 4 cattle-pens: democrat, republican, extremist, apathetic.
On rare occasions in the past a true leader has emerged from the population, but they're all in the past.

Voting after informing oneself of the true consequences of handing your precious vote to **** is a real obligation to yourself, your loved ones, and your community. Blindly following a party/religion/fad/individual/slogan is never going to give you a peaceful and comfortable life.

For all of you, blue or red, republican or democrat, white hat or black hat, one thing needs to be done. And that's VOTING.

It doesn't matter if "there's nobody here worth voting for", you need to forget about write-ins and protest votes or votes for independents. Face facts, either Trump or Biden must get in, and any other vote means you're wasting a possible vote for your least-worst choice between these two.

Every one of you must express a choice if the US is claiming to be a democracy. If you, the rational thinker, do not vote, you will by your failure to vote allow the fanatics and idiots to choose your next president. And also your senators, governors, congressmen.

It's bad enough that you're stuck with an 18th century set of rules, which couldn't cater for media or electronics or just plain dishonesty. But you should be able to work within that framework you've been doing it all your lives or you volunteered to be there.

Now use your heads, rather than your hearts. The best possible outcome is 100% voter response.

Then maybe try to resist the urge to express your dissatisfaction by telling the posters (in this case VR and myself) who are obviously enjoying the banter, to go elsewhere. This is a public forum not your private club.
OK, I'll leave you to enjoy your private club then. Bye.

If a thread bores you why do you read it?
How am I supposed to know it's boring without reading it? Threads started by rookie are normally interesting.
