Since you never did any STEM courses you are not in any kind of position to dictate what our president can and can't do. You are into money and nothing else.

I can only assume that is sarcasm. Thanks a lot. We lived exciting lives as opposed to you who probably never even saw Mexico much less gone around the world several times living and working overseas for years.

Actually it was something like that. Coming back to Thailand, the boat carrying me and a dozen other passengers died in the middle of the Mekong and we started drifting towards Vietnam, not a great idea ATT🙂 The river was pretty active flowing pretty fast so the Thai's put out a boat to get us off the dead one and that was a trip in itself, transferring a dozen or so people to the good boat in the boiling waters of the Mekong river, boats bobbing up and down but we managed to get into the second boat without too much trauma and made our way back to the safe borders of Thailand.

I lived in Thailand for several years and it was similar in architecture and beautiful Wats. I also was able to visit Laos with their lovely French buildings, Takek was mind blowing. Had quite a trip on the Mekong getting back, but that is another story.

Speaking of whales, did you see the paper saying they have started conversing with whales? My guess is AI will help out really communicating with them. Wouldn't that be a hoot. Millions of years of whale logic, stories, philosophy and such. We humans might, I say MIGHT even learn something from them.......

It's funny, they are talking about putting hydrophones on the bottom of the ocean to record whale sounds.
I had a job once at a place called AUTEC, Atlantic Underwater Test Center. This is on Andros Island in the Bahamas. What a sweet job!

The reason for the existence of AUTEC is what is called TOTO, Tongue of the Ocean,
an underwater canyon about 150 Km long by about 50 Km wide and 8000 feet deep,
FILLED with hydrophones in specific patterns on the floor and more on strings every ten feet or so top to bottom, hundreds of hydrophones, the reason is to test weapons like torpedos and such which would have a pinger in it and the idea was to program that device to do say 100 meters straight up, 200 meters same depth, a nice curved path and we saw the result is 3D projected on graph board monitors.

The great part of my job, which was maintaining those monitors and microwave communications equipment, but after work there is a sound board where you can switch in any one of those hydrophones and put the audio through an amp and speaker. The sounds produced were incredible, alien sounding, whoops and whistles and such, awesome sounds. I would sit at that board for hours listening to the whale sounds and dolphins. And to think they are now making some headway to actually communicating with them, totally awesome.

You will never understand helping students out of debt is an investment in our future.
Who do you think it is coming up with new technologies? NASA went 50 years running the same non reusable rockets and Musk comes along and says, lets build a booster that can land so we can reuse them making space flight a lot cheaper.
Or a young Tesla inventing the rotating magnetic field, the basis for most motors now, three phase motors or pushing for alternating current rather than DC which his boss Edison tried to make the standard. Tesla realized you could use AC transformers to up the voltage to thousands of volts to make electric transmission more efficient.
So it is folks like that, highly educated who makes for the next generation of scientists and engineers. If they can't afford to finish college, you would say, get a fukking job at McDonalds and quit bitching. Another mind lost when we REALLY need the best minds we can find. You don't see that happening in China, they are supported from day one.

I wonder if they were actually paid? Sounds like they spent several months income just for the passport.
BTW, Putin is offering a bounty on any US military person killed in Ukraine, some millions of dollars. There are US citizens signing up for duty there, I wonder if the bounty extends to them.
