I can't pare down three decades worth of rock and roll into one song and one band. It's impossible.

Darv's right. It's sort of a silly question.

I s'pose if someone held a gun to my head and asked me, I'd have to say "No Quarter", by Led Zeppelin.

For me, it symbolizes everything that was beautiful, dark and sinister about Led Zeppelin in their prime.

I'll go with the first one that comes into my head:

    Jethro Tull, Aqualung.

Ugh, why did that have to come into my head?

    Number two:
    Iggy Pop, The Passenger.

A bit better. I'll stop now.

I love it, but stairway is the cheesiest Zeppelin song.
I'd suggest Kashmir or Black Dog instead.
Hendrix: Electric Ladyland, Voodoo Chile, Crosstown Traffic
    Cream: White Room
    David Bowie: Space Oddessey
The Who: My Generation, Who's Next
    To name but a few................

That's probably one of my least favorite Doors' songs. If I had to choose something by The Doors, I'd probably pick "Not to Touch the Earth" or "Moonlight Drive".
