But tell me, why don't you like Sean Penn?
A lot of folks pick certain actors not to like based on their politics, a lot of hollywood actors are liberal types, so what's not to hate, right? /sarcasm off

America hating, half a point of IQ super dummy! I don't even think he's a very good actor. I don't like his depressing movies, I don't like his persona, his politics and nothing he stands for. Indeed Cruise gets worse as he gets older. I saw Valkyrie both his and the German version. No comparison. With Penn it's not all politics since I absolutely adore Bruno Ganz despite his politics. Bruno Ganz is a master of his trade and was fabulous in Downfall. Another ultraliberal I admire greatly is Thomas Quasthoff, the recently retired German lieder specialist.
It was a great movie.. better then many of the 007's and even better then Casino Royale. I think Danial Craig is a great Bond, but who will step up after Craig... I say Michael Fassbender aka Magneto from X-Men:1st Class.
Originally posted by scacchipazzo The trailer I watched said Bond. Either way, Cruise is terrible and not credible as an agent type macho male. I guess the narrator must have compared him to Bond and I wrongly assumed he was playing Bond. LOL Cruise is awful and a terrible actor who happens to be semi-good looking!
He lost a lot of cred with that action on the couch bit..AND being scientologist pretty much makes him a joke now. I never cared for him even before his antics.

What about Liam Neeson? I bet he would make a great bond. Better than Cruise for sure!
Originally posted by Suzianne I just saw this today on its opening day, and I have to say that I think it's the best Bond film in many years. Perhaps it has something to do with this year being the 50th anniversary of the release of Dr. No, the first Bond film, but this film is highly reminiscent of classic Bond films in its feel and demeanor. We've had many Bond films lately b ...[text shortened]... emorable Bond film in ages. A little long at 143 minutes, but every minute is worth it.
I thought there were a lot of very clever plot elements in this one. The old Aston Martin gets torched. Q giving Bond a simple weapon, then asking him, "Did you think you were getting an exploding pen? We don't do those kinds of things anymore". It was as if the writers used the movie to announce that the franchise was going to grow up. (We also finally find out why Q is called Q), but that's minor. The introduction of Moneypenny, I thought, gave the movie a timeless feel - as Moneypenny was in the earliest Bond films, and she was introduced here, allows this movie to drop in at virtually any point in the Bond timeline. Not to mention, Adele is absolutely haunting.
I agree - best Bond I've ever seen and 4.5/5.
Watched Skyfall on Saturday evening and yes, it was excellent; best Bond film in a while and even better than Casio Royal, which also was a step forward for the franchise.
I've got no intention of going to see Cruise in this Jack Reacher film; I can tell by the way they are hyping it up that it will be a pile of poo.

Maybe Tom Cruise and John Travola could play in a movie about Scientology hit men.
