Gotta mention one of the great vocal performances in rock history.

Thank you Poly Styrene of the X-Ray Spex.

Sometimes you just gotta live some punk.

Plus such lyrics. Nobody could sing this song like her.

Some people think little girls should be seen and not heard
    But i think
    Oh Bondage Up Yours!
    One, Two, Three, FOUR!

    Bind me tie me
Chain me to the wall I wanna be a slave
    To you all

    Oh bondage up yours
    Oh bondage no more
    Oh bondage up yours
    Oh bondage no more

    Chain-store chain-smoke
    I consume you all
    Chain-gang chain-mail
    I don't think at all

    Oh bondage up yours
    Oh bondage no more
    Oh bondage up yours
    Oh bondage no more

    Thrash me crash me
    Beat me till I fall
    I wanna be a victim
    For you all

    Oh bondage up yours
    Oh bondage no more
    Oh bondage up yours
    Oh bondage no more

    [Repeat first verse]

I try and try to be progressive and see music genres as being influential in some way. But punk? No, I just can't. It isn't even music---it's.....anti-music. It does have one redeeming feature, though: it's not as bad as rap.

    Yeah?
anti-music? Man have I got you pegged in the wrong hole.
"Modern "music has always been ground-breaking. Led Zep was considered "heavy-metal" in the day.Now its just "rock"
Punk music of the late 70's is just pop music for my 14 yr old daughter.
Punk not influentual? C'mon! Its probably the most influencial genre of the last 50 years.

As influential as a canker sore, and equally welcomed.

As a young adult male trying to get laid in the mid 70's and having to wear Travolta-ish polyester shirts to better my chances, all I can say is God bless punk for bashing disco's head in. I can't even dance, you should have seen me.

A bad thing about punk is that the bands disdained extended solos as being pretentious.

I tip my hat to you sir---punk does indeed deserve a pat on it's spitting, bleeding head for helping bring down disco. But it did have help from the Hair bands😉

Which backs up my point. Whether positive or negative, it has had a distinct influence.
