Recommended holiday reads

As the UK gets to grip and back to work after what my US collegues describe as a "light dusting" of snow, my thoughts are turning to a holiday in the sunshine, preferably a diving based one.

But what to read? I'm not 'a book a day person' like my wife who has a verocious appetite for door-wedge calibre real-life drama. I like decent SiFi, like Asimov for example. Or the every day stuff Jeremy Clarkson (who should be Prime Minister IMO).

Any suggestions or recommends?
