Morrison's representatives and Densmore did not approve the use of the name. Ringo can't go out and find three guys and call his band the Beatles either!
Originally posted by AThousandYoungIn all fairness, Ringo isn't going to. He didn't write the Beatles' music save for a scant few songs. The same can't be said of Manzarek and Krieger.

Yeah, Morrison wrote the words but if words really mattered then poetry readings would sell out arenas. It's all about the music.

The Doors -- for me -- was about the wild 'poet' (The Beatles had better lyrics) and his stooges tinkling along in the background. I can't be bothered with them anymore.
Originally posted by Bosse de NageThe doors were unique. You don't find bands with their sound with such a broad list of good songs. One of the few bands you can pop in an entire CD and not have to skip any songs.

The Doors were not just Jim Morrison. Robbie contributed to many lyrics. Both Robbie and Ray made the true music and John was an excellent drummer. The Doors were four people (plus the unknown bassist!), not Jim Morrison.
