    The issue is not the hijab, but whether it is part of the costume for the particular Opera. Most shows of any kind require particular costumes for the players. You don't just show up and wear whatever you happen to want.

    I suppose that the women performers' costumes were compatible with Iran's legal requirements of hijab.
