Africa is very misunderstood, at least in the U.S. Please watch this short, but very informative and interesting, video. I spent 35 days in the summer of 2015 traveling throughout 6 African countries by myself. While my main goal was to view wild animals, I had the pleasure of meeting wonderful people in each of the countries I visited. https://www.facebook.com/aljazeera/videos/10153774824648690/

Nigeria and the nearby region is the homeland for Black people AKA Niger-Congo people. There is a lot of oil there but also a tremendous amount of corruption. The army and police of that region are known to be cruel and sadistic.

The falling oil prices around the world are not good for the Nigerian economy.

For the record, I know what it means to be misunderstood, at least around here.

In fact, I often sing black spirituals while posting here at RHP.

    Coincidence?

Did your little safari help you in forming motivations to become a resident? I hate to rain on your parade, but many of those "fastest growing" economies were starting from near zero.

What you failed to help us understand is what considerable disadvantages Africa had, and still has. If you know all that and still want to go, have at it.

LOL yes when your GNP is like a hundred dollars doubling it to 200 isn't much of an accomplishment.

It has some very good points. Referring to 'Africa' as a unit is like referring to 'the Americas' as a unit.

Over there in the Americas drug violence is so bad that you have mayors killed the day after they take office:http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2016/01/mexico-mayor-killed-day-office-160103044520204.html

And don't get me started posting YouTube videos of the slums of Haiti.
