Now, obviously, listening to trump, one does get a distinct impression the man has fascist leanings. I mean, he really likes the dictator crowd, he talks about rounding up the enemy within and he wants generals like German generals…

What?
Well, according to Kelly, his former chief of staff (I believe that was the man’s role), trump openly admired Hitler and wanted his generals to be like Hitler’s generals.

Openly admiring Hitler is what we call: “A social faux pas.”

Sure, Hitler obviously did some good things. Uh, like, well killing himself. And he was a bit of trooper in WW1. But from 1923 onwards, until he topped himself, there’s nothing really that good about him. And mentioning semi-things he had a vague hand in (like the autobahn) doesn’t really amount to much. Considering what they were created for.

Hitler’s generals… some were sicophantic. Some wanted the moustached Austrian murdered and the top generals were paid millions (in today’s money) from a secret fund to stay loyal.

Say what? That last part Shav… what?

It’s from Historian Mark Felton. He does extremely good research on WW2 history.

Ahhhh… Hitler and fascism… I wonder why donald admires it so much?

I take it the right-wingers here agree with trump on the matter?

There is an excellent film, in German, titled Im Toten Winkel. The Blind Spot, in English.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0311320/?ref_=fn_al_tt_2

It consists of an interview with Traudl Junge, Hitler's private secretary, in her old age. The entire film is just this old woman sitting in a chair, recounting her memories. Zero action. It's one of the most riveting films I've ever seen.

She depicts him as a kindly uncle.

A standout moment for me was her account of when she and Eva Braun had a quiet moment to leave the bunker in Berlin (in between bombing raids) and stroll through a public park nearby. Eva Braun saw a statue and took a fancy to it. When they returned to the bunker, Eva asked Adolf whether he would procure her that statue. He replied that he could not possibly do such a thing. The statue was not his personal property to dispose of as he pleased; it belonged to dem Deutschen Volk (the German people).

On the other hand, he disposed of human beings just as he pleased.

Yes, life in the blind spot is filled with bizarre, incomprehensible contradictions.

All that stuff said is hearsay. Remember when some woman said Trump tried to grab the steering wheel to the car? Never happened. People make up stuff.

And Hitler brought Germany and the world the people's car. With a lot of help from Porsche of course. That was a good thing. The VW Beetle was awesome.

And why is Hitler more vilified than Stalin? Stalin killed more people than Hitler and the USA was allied with him. Strange bedfellows.

@moonbus
That whole story about Hitler and Eva dying in a bunker is made up BS.

So: The fragments of a skull persented by the Sowjet Union might not be Hitlers.

However the teeth at least are: https://www.lemonde.fr/blog/realitesbiomedicales/2018/05/18/des-dents-conservees-a-moscou-sont-bien-celles-dadolf-hitler-mort-en-1945/

And the record of witnesses is so stringent that it would hold up in any court.

If you beleive Hitler came awa would you please share where he went?

Are you actually defending Hitler?

I was right, you're insane. It's the only answer.

Never has "Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it" held so much weight. Those who support Trump certainly do have a blind spot.

Probably Argentina, I think that's the odds-on favorite right now.

Argentina.

You want to rely on Hitler's dentist to have the correct dental records? He was Hitler's friend. It may surprise you to hear this, but many people who knew Hitler liked him.

According to the National Archives, a U.S. Army report deemed Blaschke “arrogant and unbothered by World War II and its aftermath.”

How many people killed means nothing to you? Or is it because of who he killed? Don't you care about Russians?

No. I am answering the OP question. He brought Germany the people's car with the help of a brilliant auto engineer. That was a good thing. Don't you appreciate the VW Beetle?
