I am against it. The hypocrisy stinks bad. Who is going to hold Trump liable for all of his lies? He isn't trying to fight drug trafficking by taking out Venezuelan boats. He wants regime change so he can get all that oil. He already tried during his first term and said he wanted the oil. It is no secret. He boasted about it.
What Trump is calling for is unconstitutional. And there are already laws making them liable. Trump should know since he keeps suing media outlets.

How would I get them penalized for spreading false info about the cause of GW? And what if they honestly believed the lies so they were merely spreading misinformation they didn't know was a lie? I would have to prove intent to lie and that is what defamation lawsuits have to do anyway.

What happened to Kirk was horrible and he didn't deserve dying so young. That said, I think it is deplorable to use his death to pass unconstitutional laws like the one Trump proposed. It says right in the 1st amendment no laws restricting freedom of speech and that is what he is proposing.
It really does look like Trump is trying to declare war against the constitution. He doesn't have lawyers to consult to tell him it is unconstitutional? He is the fargin POTUS.
