I'm not a big fan of Socialism.
But maybe you could start by enlightening us all on why Socialism doesn't work.
But first, get off on the right foot by telling us what Socialism is.

Not trying to belittle or insult you.
But too many people out there trashing Socialism without even knowing what it is.

Do you care about her because Ben Shapiro tells you that you should?

We care about her because she is said to be representative of the future of the Democratic party in America and she's a popular public figure.

She represents a multiethnic district in New York City. How will her
brand of democratic socialism resonate in Pittsburgh or Podunk?

    "Crazy Eyes" Cortez...

Hey, whodey, how about everytime we reference your name in this forum, we preface it with "Shameless Liar"? Would that be fair?

(Please, why the ad hominem aspersions..). Ok, Socialism is pretty much that no matter who works, who works harder, who doesn’t work, create , produce, be charitable, who has 5 kids, who has no kids, who saves lives, who saves nothing, who defends our freedom, who goes surfing everyday... They ALL own the factories and businesses etc in this country, they ALL own the value. Non producers own the work product of the producers. I bet the most liberal among us is thinking, golly, why would the producers produce? And does the guy with no kids get to own the same percentage of our production as does the guy with 5 kids?

If i would repeat what stellspalfie said, would you care? Or perhaps you would be open to someone explaining to you how every nation (except the blatant communists), including the US, has a degree of democratic socialism which doesn't seek to eliminate capitalism, merely regulate it?

Or would you feel better to just remain ignorant?

    What is socialism then?

I thought it was the government owning the means of production, but we don't really see that in Europe, do we? Yet they call themselves socialists.

Now we see this in places like Venezuela and North Korea, societies that eat out of garbage cans.............

Likewise, demagoguges like Bernie Sanders and Crazy Eyes call themselves socialists, but do they ever advocate the government taking over industry completely? No, they don't.

It would appear that these types of socialists want to inch towards socialism however much they can get away with. In my view they are no different than a Democrat other than being a little more radical in their pursuit towards socialism. They are also the singing birds in the cave. Can politicians come out as socialists and still be elected, or must they continue to shun that word while still acting as if they are a socialists because the term is so unpopular?

I think as more children are being indoctrinated with socialism in our schools and in the media, it has become OK to come out as a socialist, where as before people were horrified of the word because it was historically associated with such abject misery that we see in places like Venezuela and North Korea.

As for Crazy Eyes Cortez, she is a minority woman socialist in a deep blue part of the country. As such, she is bullet proof. It matters little what she says or does, she will continue to get elected because of those things.

Don’t want to remain ignorant. Thought I’d better look it up, just did, and it is pretty much “Economy and resources are controlled by the public or the state”. I’d think your basic citizen would want government to DE-regulate our lives? Where am I wrong?

The thing is, regulations do some "good". In other words, they address a problem in some way.

What is difficult is assessing the "good" it does verses the "bad" it does and weighing them out to see if it should remain or be changed or done away with entirely.

And this is the difficulty with regulations. Each one is a weight on the economy as they are designed to "protect" certain segments of the population and the more we have of them the more poorly the economy does overall, which then effects us all negatively.

But my chief concern about regulations is, they are essentially laws passed by unelected bureaucrats, so if they are unpopular these people cannot be voted out of their position. No, those hand full of appointed regulators are the judge and jury as to how "good" they are for the given society. The people no longer have a voice.
