No less than 40 nations have had female leaders since the 1960's. Why can't America, the (so called) beacon of Democracy and opportunity in the world manage to do this??

We should select the person who we think will be our best leader. The checking off of gender/ race/ sexual orientation/ religion boxes is simply moronic.

America does have lots of female leaders, just that they are not in government. They all in Hollywood, Motown, etc, some are running Fortune 500 companies. Government is not where the money is in the USA. In many of the countries listed the ones who hold govt office are the wealthiest.

Its not moronic at all. Personal bias is build in to all people. Upon attaining the highest political office a woman is likely to go after securing womens rights, a transgender will go after whatever concerns them, a Christian will seek to help their own kind etc. These are important determinants of persons performance.

Yes. Like, is it time for a person of indian descent? Or Pakistani??? Impt decisions. I hope a person from Chad doesn’t get it, im assuming experience is impt. A trans type of person, who is not actually what he is, would be refreshing as well.

I disagree. America has a respectable number of female senators, representatives, mayors, governors, state and federal prosecutors, all of which would be well qualified for the job of President. So, why not elect one?

Of course, but clearly the public does not think of them as good presidential material.

We have to let democracy decide.
But if we have to put in preset requirements, I would prefer that America elects Presidents that behave like adults.
I would think you guys have had a massive "lessons learned" epiphany lately.

It is a dumb goal. People should vote for the best candidate. Voting for someone just because they are female is as dumb and backwards as not voting for someone because of their skin color.
We shouldn't stereotype people based on their gender and for a serious candidate for the president of the United States we should actually know their positions not just guess that a female would support certain issues.

Or maybe she'll be absolutely terrible. But I'm sure her race or gender won't be the reason.
