Animals are not self aware, or can not make decisions so they can not be innocent as they wouldnt know if there doing right or wrong.
A fox that decides not to eat the meat that has been placed in a trap knows better. A bird that puts nuts on the road for cars to crush them, or stale bread in water to soften it has reasoned and made a decision.
You say if they couldn’t do this they wouldn’t be innocent? Boy that’s twisted.

I'm sure there are all sorts of animal rights laws in the UK as they are here in America. If somebody goes to jail for abusing their pet, that would be an example of a human law applied to an animal.
Originally posted by hurricane177In order to send the human to jail though, it is necessary to give the animal the same rights that are applied to humans (right to life, right not to be assulted, tortured, etc). If the animal didn't have these human morals and laws applied to it, then it would not be illegal to abuse animals.

Originally posted by The Chess ExpressIf animals have the same rights as humans why are they kept in cages, killed, eaten etc. Do that to a human and you would end up in jail or mental institution.

Its obvious animals don't have the same rights as humans, you dont get arrested every time you 'murder' a fly.
By the way im not pro animal abuse, i just dont think animals have human rights

Animals don’t have all the rights we have I agree. Animals don’t have the right to remain silent if they get arrested 😀 but if you try to eat your pet you might wind up in jail.
Why are construction projects put on hold if they threaten the habitat of an endangered species? This all has to do with basic human rights and morals that we apply to animals.

True. Some animals have more rights than others, but even the ones that are eaten cannot legally be abused.

I'm glad you mentioned this.
