Shlomo Sand is (or was) an Israeli Jewish historian. He now prefers that
the state of Israel regard his official nationality as 'Israeli', not 'Jewish'.
His latest book is _How I Stopped Being a Jew_ (2014).

    http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/oct/10/shlomo-sand-i-wish-to-cease-considering-myself-a-jew

"Shlomo Sand: 'I wish to resign and cease considering myself a Jew'.
His past was Jewish, but today he sees Israel as one of the most racist societies
in the western world. Historian Shlomo Sand explains why he doesn't want
    to be Jewish anymore."
    --Shlomo Sand (10 October 2014)

"I feel in turn (out of respect for his father, an irreligious Jew) a moral
obligation to break with *tribal Judeocentricism*. ...
Racism is present everywhere, but in Israel it exists deep within the spirit
of the laws. It is taught in schools and colleges, spread by the media..."
    --Shlomo Sand

Shlomo Sand continues to regard himself as an Israeli. His position seems
motivated by his awareness that, in Israel, to be recognised as a Jew in law and
custom means a status of power and privilege over Israel's non-Jewish citizens.
Unlike most Israeli Jews, Shlomo Sand does not enjoy claiming or asserting
superior power and privileges over the non-Jewish people under Israel's rule.

Well....now that we're all aware of that fascinating piece of news, what are the Seahawks chances of repeating as Super Bowl champs??

As usual, Bill718 likes to 'contribute' his ignorant sneering.

In threads about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Finnegan often liked to
cite Shlomo Sand, an Israeli historian, as an authority on Jewish identity.
I suspect that some people (including those who argued with Finnegan
about Shlomo Sand) might be interested in Shlomo Sand's latest book or
his current thoughts on Jewish identity in Israel.

Actually, as usual you attack the person not the idea.
I personally believe it will very difficult for the Seahawks to win the Super Bowl again as there is a huge element of luck, health and "sacrifice for the team" that is tough to repeat the year after winning a title.

Bill apparently doesn't think much of your OP.

In fact, Bill718 offered 'no idea' that's relevant at all to this thread.
Evidently, Bill718 knew nothing about Shlomo Sand or how Shlomo Sand's
books have been cited (by Finnegan and me) earlier in this forum.

Quackquack, a right-wing American who's a fanatical supporter of Israel,
supports Bill718's blatant off-topic trolling presumably because Quackquack
loathes Shlomo Sand on account of his criticisms of Israel and Zionism.

Recent history says it is extremely difficult to win back to back Superbowls.

    I definitely agree.

I regard Bill718 as a very ignorant, stupid, dishonest troll of self-described
'liberal' American political opinions who's about as offensive as the 'conservative'
Americans whom he loathes and who loathe him.

As I recall, Bill718 has condemned all Palestinian violence against Israel
while declining to criticize any Israeli violence against the Palestinians.
Yet Bill718 seems to fantasize that he's being an 'even-handed' 'liberal'.

Evidently, Bill718, Quackquack, and Normbenign (who all support Israel and
presumably loathe Shlomo Sand) are intent on hijacking this thread at once.

You somehow think that anyone is concerned about your opinion of them?

I think Bill718 is a fine upstanding citizen.Whilst not understanding American football I can see how it would be hard to win the "super bowl" in consecutive years as it would be for Manchester City to win the English Premier league this year after winning it last year .

It is OK for you to hijack any forum you wish tell long propoganda stories. But when people discuss what they wish you get annoyed.
Shlomo Sand apparently is a bigoted idiot. You guys seem to have a lot of in common.

Indeed, I don't think the difficulties is repeating championships is unique to American football. I'd imagine all sports team would have trouble starting from the beginning in a new season and re-achieving their ultimate goal.

Thanks to Quackquack for confirming that he loathes Shlomo Sand, an Israeli
citizen who objects to the Jewish racism favoured by Quackquack in Israel.

Obviously, the posts by Bill718, Quackquack, Normbenign, and Phil3000 are
completely off-topic and belong in the Sports forum, not here.
