@no1marauder saidThis is a forum about basic practical thought, and in this case, about the relationships between people and government Under the Law. If you keep this extraneous patter up, that maniac known posting here as King David will come down on you with all sorts of religious dogma......and then Sonhouse will follow up, and you will have quite a thread on your hands, as I quietly creep into the garden! The King will say that if someone puts our your eye on the golf course, that you have a natural and religious right to take out his eye.
Natural Rights theory is the very basis of on which our nation was created. See the Declaration of Independence for further details.
The Founders wouldn't have agreed with your belief that it's BS.
Let's not go down this road. If we do, you will have to prepare a Natural Law brief to argue before me and Vivify and everyone else. I cannot imagine.
I would like, tho, for you to tell us what you would say to your son about self-reliance.
@AverageJoe1 saidI'd tell him not to be a gullible, ignorant, ass kisser - traits you constantly exhibit on this Forum.
If you sit down with your soon-to-go-out-into-the-world son, what do you tell him about success and being self-reliant, making his way in the world?
Humor me (us).
@AverageJoe1 saidI've been arguing Natural Rights theory on this Forum for 20 years.

I still believe it is correct and that modern scientific studies from fields as diverse as biology to anthropology strongly support it.
Just to let you knnow I am not being contrarian, I love this page, and submit for study of our readers. They can draw their own conclusions, and note that NLaw seems to conflict with man-made law. What in the hell?
Everyone just read at least the green highlighted paragraphs. I just saved you a whole course in Marauder Theory 101!

@no1marauder saidAll good advice. But the ISSUE i present (what is it with you libs, and the anger...) regards self-reliance, which bespeaks relying on oneself to make his way for food, clothing and shelter, and more recently, to include transportation.
I'd tell him not to be a gullible, ignorant, ass kisser - traits you constantly exhibit on this Forum.
You would hardly say to your son..."Before you leave, let me advise you to avoid being gullible, or kissing ass." This has nothing to do with making his way and putting money in the bank, etc. That is, relying on himself for same. Relying. Self. Self-reliance.
@no1marauder saidThen why not religion, the bible, catechism, etc.

With that, I am off to church.
@AverageJoe1 saidPeople who aren't ignorant know how the present system works. The best advice to give any young person is to get a good education.

They'll be able to work it out on their own after that without relying on right wing fairy tales.
@no1marauder saidBut HOW does she intend to do it?
Kamala is running on what she intends to do when she is President not on what happened in the past.
There's never been a time in US history when everything was peachy keen and there was no room for improvement no matter how "great" the President was (not saying Biden was a "great" President).
She's silent on the matter because she doesn't have a clue how to fix the problems she and Biden caused to begin with.
@no1marauder saidYes, I would enouraage my son in his earlier years to study and make good grades so he will nurture the advantages it takes to go out-into-the world and find employment and opportunities to be successful. We all get that.

But I was asking, AFTER THAT, how would you encourage him to get ahead on his own (be self-reliant) when he leaves home, with that education under his belt.
Let's zero in on that discussion. His taxes will pay for the govt roads, but, beyond that, he is on his own.
What would you advise him in lieu of self-reliance?
As an aside....you say here that a person can 'work it out on their own', when in you in fact espouse a nanny government and encourage dependence on the government.....thus, 'not' on their own.

You guys just aren't listening.
@AverageJoe1 saidI don't know what you mean by a "nanny government" or your usual nonsense saying I "espouse" things I don't. If I had my way there would be no "government" as you think of it but that would mean there wouldn't be any private property or capitalism either.

It's football day; I have no more time to waste on this Forum. Feel free to keep telling lies about my beliefs but I won't be replying to them today.
@AverageJoe1
So you want this thread to be a referendum about YOUR input to these ideas, then you go an enter a link to the HERITAGE FOUNDATION as evidence? The ones pushing Project 2025?
Do you think we are, no, wait, You KNOW we are subhuman intelligence and therefore we should be accepting any ultrarightwingnut site supporting your sick agendas.
@sonhouse saidHey, Shouse. What I want with this thread at the moment, is for Marauder to tell us what he means when says that 'No individual is self-reliant'. I asked him elaborate but he, naturally, wrote about something else, because he knows he is wrong. I am looking for HIS input, I am not giving mine. Whew.

He is also wrong that today is football day, yesterday was football day. Pro Football lacks about everything in real football.
@AverageJoe1
Well, in the 18th and 19th century there were mountain men hermits living by trapping and hunting and so forth but tell me what THAT kind of self reliance does to the overall population since a hermit living out in the wilds up north will not have children so a viable population of such individuals would be a bit hard to evolve.
So you are SO self reliant you make gasoline for your car all on your own?
SO good to know you are so independent on energy supplied by government and companies around you.
Same with your water, I assume you have access to a steam or river to pick up buckets of water to slosh into your 500 gallon water tank for your house and it must be AMAZING for you to grow your own crops in your 10 acre garden for your family.
I guess also you are amazingly self reliant on medicines you pick from the forest like natural asprin and antibiotic plants.
This is AMAZING. We can learn SO much from your life of self reliance.
