Why would "liberals" have to defend the RCC?

He has only one thought process in his cranium.

Maybe we should ask him what a "liberal" is ?
And maybe he can explain what the term "progressive" means to him.

At some point the Pope may have suggested that we probably shouldn't be gassing all the Muslims and immigrants, and that's enough to get the "liberal" label nowadays.

Who, exactly, are those on the 'left' that 'seem' to like the current Pope. Since it's 'no secret' you can easily share this with the rest of us.

    Why would anyone defend this?

Your glee from this fake proposition regarding a terrible, terrible case is noted.

“A person who thinks only about building walls — wherever they may be — and not building bridges, is not Christian,” Francis told reporters Thursday aboard the papal plane as he returned to Rome from a visit to Mexico, according to a translation from the Associated Press.

    Compare that with this.

“It is horrific even to think that there are children, victims of abortion, who will never see the light of day. Unfortunately, what is thrown away is not only food and dispensable objects, but often human beings themselves, who are discarded as unnecessary.”

    - “State of the World” address, Jan 2011

Francis has nonetheless angered conservative Catholics by suggesting the church shouldn’t be “obsessed” with issues like abortion. He also announced this month that, during the coming Holy Year, all priests will be granted the power to forgive those who receive and perform abortions.

That headline should be "who is less right wing?"

To answer my question. It's the Hispanic Catholics that are Democrat voting. You could have just said that. Of course that isn't your MO, is it? How many of those are on this board? Maybe 1?

So how can a Pope not be focused on abortion when according to Catholic teaching, it is mass genocide?

Then again, the Pope was not all that vocal during the Holocaust either, and for the same reason. It's all about political expediency.

Instead, he is focused on walls being built.

    Not according to these polls.

    http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2016/02/23/u-s-religious-groups-and-their-political-leanings/

Catholics in the US are 37% GOP, 44% DNC, and 19% confused either way.

Most Catholics I know are Catholic because their mommy or daddy were Catholic. They don't go to church and know very little about the Bible. In essence, they are non-practicing Christians.

You are so naive, and it’s very amusing if you reflect whodey...

Religious brainwashing is deeper than political brainwashing, so Catholics are less likely to abandon their religion because of a dodgy Pontif any more than you are likely to abandon Republicanism because of Trump.

You do realise that partisan political entrenchment is fundamentally adherence to an “ism” don’t you?

Mass genocide? Surely genocide is enough.

Ask the Pope. Of course as a political leader there is some sort of political expediency when meeting another world leader. Just like Trump with his meeting with Putin.

That the Pope is also a religious leader is between him and his church.

    Yes MASS genocide.

What other genocide has cost the lives of some 55 million unborn children in the US since Roe vs. Wade?

World wide, God only knows the numbers.

So you would compare this with Trump meeting Putin?
