A fairy tale.

GDP growth in 2017 was 2.5% little different than the last four year average under Obama. https://countryeconomy.com/gdp/usa?year=2017

And that was largely created only by running up the Federal deficit which went from $585 billion in 2016 to $665B then $779B then $984B in Trump's first three years. https://www.thebalancemoney.com/us-deficit-by-year-3306306
not quite,,,

“U.S. real GDP grew by 2.3 percent year-on-year in 2017, compared to a more sluggish 1.5 percent over the corresponding period in 2016”

Sure 2016 was "sluggish" compared to the prior three years all which had about the same growth rates as Trump's first three years even without massive tax cuts. Variations in yearly growth rates are pretty common but, in any event, the economy hardly "took off like a rocket" as Earl claimed; growth rates under Trump never approached the 4% or more he and his economic advisors promised his tax cuts would deliver:

" In a 2016 debate, he promised 4% gross domestic product growth, saying: “And I actually think we can go higher than 4%. I think you can go to 5% or 6%.”

BTW, Trump's tax cuts had no effect on 2017 growth:

"President Trump signed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 (TCJA) into law on December 22, 2017. "

“We’re going to be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America,” Trump told reporters. “Which has a beautiful ring. That covers a lot of territory. The Gulf of America, what a beautiful name. And it’s appropriate. It’s appropriate.”

You just can't make this sh-- up.

Why don't you bitch at Earl who thought Trump cut taxes in 2016?

The fact of the matter is that Trump inherited a strong economy from Obama and his tax cuts accomplished little but to run up the deficit.
I will just agree with you that he did not cut taxes in 2016. History was never my strong suit. I think that Truman did not cut taxes in 1945.

Then for sake of argument I will agree obama.....what, let me look back at what you said.....oh, that Trump inherited strong economy. OK, Trump inherited a strong economy from Obama.

Now, that out of the way, what is Trump going to do with the economy? Like starting on Jan 20 (th future) or, can we agree that he has already started? The workhorse that he is.

“I don’t know what it is with ‘electric.’ This guy loves ‘electric.’ We’re going to be ending the electric car mandate quickly, by the way,” Trump rambled. “This guy loves electric, and he—we don’t have enough electricity, and then we have AI where we need more. And he wants to get, he wants everybody to have an electric heater instead of a gas heater.

“Gas heater is much ...[text shortened]... he says seriously? Why?

They think they're going to get a piece of the gravy train, that's why.
Which is more efficient? A gas heater or an electric heater?

You burn gas to generate electricity wasting heat in the process. Then you use electricity to heat your house. Gas bypasses the heat waste since heat is the goal. STUPID!

You plug in an electric car to use electricity generated by gas. Why not just buy a gas powered car?

Electricity (electric heat) is worse for drying your skin and causing problems and visits to your dermatologist........and government will not pay for it,,,,zounds. Not fair.
Libs never mention skin, they just mention fossil fuel....I think..I never really listen to unfounded whining.
Whatever, we are going to do oil whether libs like it or not. And they will be pulling up at the pumps!!! The conflict is just too much.

And how about Biden wanting everyone to have washing machines that use less water!! So, I will just wash my clothes 3 separate times. More water, and also, more electricty to run the machines 3 times!!

It is all Trump's fault, if you ask me.

Hard to say. We can be sure that they'll be a massive tax cut mostly accruing to the rich but since some of it will have to go to workers and the middle class to make the proposal politically viable, one would normally expect some stimulative effect. This will be somewhat offset by the increase in the budget deficit which will result in increased government borrowing which will crowd out private investment and raise interest rates.

Of course, if he keeps his promises to deport millions of workers plus impose ruinous tariffs, one could expect a rapid economic downturn meaning a recession or worse.

So I guess it depends on if he is really as stupid as he sounds.

These points are perfect to set aside and review in a few months. We are at odds, of course, I think there are other components, he hardly spills out everything on his mind. He has some very good advisors. Do you think Vivek is rather sharp on such matters? I am not worried.
What I REALLY want to see is the hell rained down if hostages arent released by the 20th.

Yeah, so that makes it okay, right? Give him a pass?

The judicial system has given him every pass he needs.

Of course. You want to see Trump, who supposedly has an aversion to war, kill an untold number of human beings.

Don't tell us that you too, ala Sonhouse, are going to keep reaching back into the past, with all that we have BEFORE us. I think Eisehowr overspent on the highway system as well, what is your take on that....compared to Nixon that is.
