Heating by burning firewood lowers humidity in most cases. That is because air going up the chimney has to come from somewhere so it sucks air through door cracks and such bringing in cold air which is very dry since cold air cannot hold much humidity.
Having an air intake from outside to a wood stove is a solution that would also be more efficient keeping the vacuum from bringing in cold air indirectly.
