Basically no correspondence between states that are actually having bad outbreaks and those that tend to be the subject of media coverage. The biggest problems right now are in dense-ish places in the Northeast (but no longer NY) and the Midwest. MS is a hotspot in the South.
I have nothing to add.
@sh76 saidNate Silver can tweet up a storm, but I don't think this is very relevant, and would suggest that media coverage has little impact on the nuts and bolts of fighting this virus. Washington State once was the epicenter for COVID 19, and now it's barely in the top 20. WA once had a lot of media coverage, and now has virtually none, it's not made one bit of difference. The difference was made by people obeying social distancing, working from home, and getting the necessary equipment to healthcare workers fast, so they can do their job.

@sh76 saidOuch. That site is projecting 180,000 deaths in the US by August 4th.

Hope they are wrong.
@mchill saidOf course the media does't impact fighting the virus, but the point is that the media is uber-focused on placed like Florida, Georgia and Texas (due to their anti-lockdown approaches) while those are not the main trouble spots.

@no1marauder saidOh no, they had cases.
Texas aggressively locked down in March even while it had few cases at the time. They rejected the Eladar solution.
