Meanwhile back on this planet, many millions of people in Norway and around the globe send out their heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the survivors and families of this crazed and wanton act.

In general, however, it must be said that he is a serious political thinker with a great many insights and some good practical ideas on strategy (e.g., developing culturally conservative media, developing youth organizations that will confront the Marxist street thugs, gaining control of NGOs).

Well, to be fair, I suppose it's possible to be a serious political thinker and a psychopath at the same time. The question is whether the psychopathic association reflects on the ideology itself. We'll be debating that for some time, but these responses from Beck and supposedly legit sources do tell a tale.

Glenn Beck's comment may come across as being jaw-droppingly insensitive to those of us who don't share his twisted worldview, but it is not surprising given Breivik's own apocalyptic scenario about a Muslim takeover of Europe being surreptitiously accomplished with collaboration from Marxists and liberals, or "cultural marxists" to quote the man himself, seems to come straight out of one of Glenn's monologues.

Glenn Beck's paranoid ramblings about the coming insurrection, and the emergence of a Muslim/Marxist Caliphate seems to chime in perfectly with Breivik's own theories as laid out in his manifesto.

That this demagogue would choose to belittle the victims of this atrocity in such way is vile in itself, but its typical Beck. That his still manages to capture the attention of many americans, incessantly propagating views such as these, is what is deeply worrying.

Apparently the Likud party and other members of the Knesset don't agree with you and think Beck's opinions are valuable additions to Israeli political discourse. http://quitenormal.wordpress.com/2011/07/11/beck-speaks-before-packed-knesset-committee/

Likud has become incredibly nutty over the past couple of decades.

The distasteful comment itself could probably get him lynched in Oslo these days, but the fear of a Muslim takeover is not that uncommon in Scandinavia where immigrants are mostly muslim. Of course very few Scandinavians believe in theories where all Muslims suddenly rise in unison and slaughter all, but I would say that a sizable portion are afraid to be swarmed by muslims in some way. To some extend, all countries are scared of their immigrants and other cultures I should think, and 9/11 didn't help us in our struggles with muslim integration one bit.

I don't know what Glenn Beck's Muslim takeover idea is (no doubt something perverted), but apparently Breivik's "manifest" is just copy/paste from his favourite literature/commentary with shoddy references, it could be Beck's own words.

"Noe av det som åpenbart er kopiert inn er seriøs forskning, annet er ganske kjent kulturkonservativ tankegang. Dette har intet med Høyre eller Frps konervatisme(sic) å gjøre. Dette er anti-globalisering, anti-liberalisme, anti-kapitalisme litt gjenkjennelig fra norsk debatt. Andre ting er åpenbart sakset fra amerikanske kilder. De første delene ser rett og slett ut til å være skrevet av en litt studert amerikaner"

    English translation:

"Some of the copied text is apparently serious research, other is well-known cultural-conservative line of thought. This has nothing to do with Høyre or Frps [Norwegian right-wing parties] conservatism. This is anti-globalisation, anti-liberalism, anti-capitalism barely recognisable from the Norwegian debate. Other things appears to have been copied from American sources. The first parts plain and simple looks like they were written by a poorly studied American."

And another layer to the glen beck story: He calls the camp 'hitler youth' and decries the idea of political camps for kids. But in yet another level of hypocrisy from this creep, he actually is a sponsor of political youth camps himself.

I don't know how this assshole sleeps at night.

    I'm guessing 'on his side.'

    Does that change anything?

Same with Rush, with whom Boehner apparently has to clear all of his policies.

Glenn Beck's rallies and political pet projects are immune to any comparisons to the tactics and antics of the National Socialists because after all, all he is doing is rescuing America from those evil progressives who have infiltrated the government and are now destroying it from the inside.

Many will notice how Beck shares a striking resemblance with demagogues such as Father Coughlin, in his practices, and how his brand of conspiracy theory mixed with religious fundamentalism is precisely the kind of thinking adopted by lunatics like Breivik, but this is only because we've been lied to by the Lamestream media.
