When will the haters just give up already. If you watched all of the Memorial speeches and proceedings, then the thread title is a no brainer. Surely?

He's absolutely right. White privilege IS a problem in America, and as soon as we can start seeing ourselves as equals, it won't get any better and blacks will continue to be treated as second class citizens, even though whites don't think it's happening. Whites sit back in their suburban homes and their biggest problem is whether to mow the grass today or tomorrow.

To reduce a layered multifaceted speech that affirmed law and order as the bedrock of society and that paid more than lip service to the courage and duty of those Officers who gave their all in defense of that spirit of greater good, to a one dimensional straw man, shows a clear possibly deliberate misunderstanding and misconstruing of Obama's words.

Though at the end of nearly 8 years of virulent attack, by men clearly of lesser character and aptitude, we see a man still willing to rise above the small minded bigotry that is all too prevalent, and challenge his fellow citizens to keep pressing on, and in honest retrospection, chart a course that affirms and respects the humanity in us all.

It's a pity that there are many who still reflexively reject any conversation that Obama leads. More fool them.

    Definitely a class act.

Not great at governing and a little short on fixed principles, but a class act, absolutely.

Jeez, that's an ivory tower a-hole-ish thing to say. In Audacity of Hope, Obama himself expresses tremendous sympathy for the problems of all people, white and black alike and makes sure to expressly disclaim any possible minimization of them.

    Take a cue from him.

What a completely racist and ignorant thing to spew. Blinded, once again, by your seething personality.

Do you just biitch and moan all day long or do you actually DO anything productive in your life to make a difference in this world?

only civil rights activists have the right to notice white privilege and outright racism in America?

If rhp is a microcosm of American society, Obama seems inordinately disliked. 8 thumbs down for a fairly incontrovertible statement and 4 thumbs down to SH76 for agreeing?
    This borders on the hysterical!

Casual racist nonsense. I thought of arguing with it but realised that such a mountain of smug dishonesty is not going to be shifted by anything I write or anyone else.

yeh, he only created a ton of jobs, cut the deficit, introduced obamacare (which while flawed and not nearly enough is an improvement) all while having to deal with the republicans blocking everything he tried to do.

    a horrible president.
