Shootings become public national news items when they fit a certain model, and may support certain solutions.
If you reported shootings evenly and daily, you probably need go no further than Detroit, Chicago, LA, and a few other large cities.
I could fill a page with links from just this year, and a lot of them don't even get reported in major papers in Detroit. There is a problem, one that isn't going to be solved by making guns unavailable to decent people. There is a people problem, in which people determine the solution to relatively minor squabbles are places where you kill someone. I was in Detroit less than a month when I was approached with offers to buy guns out of the trunk of a car. We have since the '20s had very restrictive gun laws in Detroit, yet since I got here in the mid '60s we've been murder central more times than I want to count.
