"Oppression in America: 'To root this out we need a movement against racist policies'
To root out racism, academics and activists say, talk of healing is not enough:
the bias at the heart of American politics, policing and society must be addressed."

"New attention has been focused on the long list of mundane activities
that black Americans can’t confidently engage in without being treated
as suspicious or having the police called."

"“It’s just part of daily living. It’s what you expect as a person of color [not only black people]
when you head out the door in the morning,” said Jeff Chang, the author of
Who We Be: A Cultural History of Race in Post-Civil Rights America.
“A moment like this just sort of galvanized folks to be able to express all
the different ways in which they’ve been impacted by daily racism.”"

Contrary to the dominant framing of American racism as exclusively a black-white
binary, Jeff Chang's evidently a Chinese American (who grew up in Hawaii).

"While the US has ended the formal, legal codes of enslavement and segregation
that stood for most of the nation’s history, little has been done to change the
minds of too many about the racist ideas that those structures rested on.

“There has NOT been a society-wide and intensive challenge to racist ideas in the US,”
said Ibram Kendi, the director of the Antiracist Research & Policy Center
at American University. “You’ve had people saying we need to have ‘national
conversations’, You’ve have people calling for ‘healing’, because in their
minds it’s just that people are hateful and they need to start loving ...
But in terms of a national, widespread effort to reorient Americans’ racist
ideas – that has never happened before.”"

In my view, about all white Americans here remain deeply influenced
(even when they are not conscious of these influences) by the endemic
racism of the society in which they grew up. Racist stereotypes may even
be regarded as the most common currency that hold Americans together.

To end racism, it's far from enough to spout banal rhetoric such as
"racism is just ignorance" or "racism will end as soon as people start loving
one another". In reality, there are many otherwise well-educated people
who are deeply racist. There are many people who can love (or at least
enjoy sleeping with) individuals of another 'race' while still holding deep
prejudices about that other 'race' in general. I have noticed, in particular,
a common reluctance or refusal by white Americans to consider the power
dynamics of structural racism. Few white Americans have enough honesty
to concede that they benefit from continuing racism and so have an important
vested interest in maintaining a racist society.

I love how the Europeans focus so intently on how to solve America's problems when they have quite enough of their own to worry about.

So what "racist policies" do you have such a problem with? Well not you, since you posted someone ELSE's writing. But the writer? List these policies and we'll go through them one by one.

Now hurry up and get to googling! I'm sure you'll find the material you need if you sift through enough anti-American op/ed pieces.

We must always focus on race just as the democrat Southerners who created slavery in the South did to differentiate between slave and free. Just like Hitler did as every action predicated on a persons race. Democrats today focus on race to try and create a block vote. Nothing else is as important as race. We must always focus on the black oppression of slavery with the added notion that nothing can ever atone for it. Only through perpetual servitude can the white devils make up for their sins, and really not even then.

In the interim, continue to refer to any black person in the US as an African American and never refer to whites as Euro-Americans.

Yep, that's a racist policy that Europe needs to take ownership of.

So the jingoistic American racist troll Tom Wolsey goes ad hominem.

Who supposedly are 'the Europeans' in what I quoted?
Jeff Chang's the only writer whom I quoted.

"“It’s just part of daily living. It’s what you expect as a person of color [not only black people]
when you head out the door in the morning,” said Jeff Chang, the author of

Tom Wolsey may believe that I am European. DeepThought believes I am 'ethnically Asian' (whatever that is).
Vivify believes that I am Arab. I could hold a Silk Road convention at my desk!

LOL you're condemning someone for going ad hominem?

Probably the most ironic, hypocritical post ever witnessed in the history of mankind.

Well Duchess, at least you're consistent! 😛

So you figure you are just as smart and educated as Dutchess64?

Several members (Tom Wolsey, Whodey, Mchill) of the RHP convention of self-pitying white
American racist trolls already have shown up in this thread. Don't be too late for the prize drawing!

No racist policies to list for us, proving that your article actually MEANS something? Or is it yet another hollow, petty, thuggish drive-by attack on America, completely lacking substance, just like the person who posted it.

Tom Wolsey's just the latest among the many abusive lying racist trolls here.
Like all the others, Tom Wolsey apparently wants to conclude that there's practically no
racism in the USA except against white people like himself, so heroic and so oppressed.

Tom Wolsey has impressed me as a proud racist white man who already has shown
WORSE reading comprehension than Eladar. So Tom Wolsey may have the potential
to become another RJHinds (a professed devout Christian and racist pathological liar).

The truly sad part is knowing racism bubbling up from the mud again as a direct result of electing Obama as POTUS and now the answer, Trump, who plays into the divisions of Americans playing the right wing like a fiddle and they jump to his manipulations like marionettes on a string meanwhile deflecting all efforts to call him to justice.

One positive thing; It didn't work for Nixon.

Sonhouse, would you prefer that the USA had elected John McCain and Hillary Clinton
instead of Barack Obama and Donald Trump as Presidents?
