PC transformed life in the West into a mine field as in Stalin's Soviet Union.

One can make a mistake without really knowing it and he can end in virtual Syberia in no time, stigmatized and sentenced before trial.

Insignificant difference: instead of Leader and constitutional socialist order, here are protected some indefinable values and/or groups (minority or powerless as they call themselves) and/or behaviour codes.

Since the rules are not clear, one who arrives from East should better act mute and/or deaf.

For some reason the ruling class in the West as well as their lap dogs love political correctness. I guess it is their way of attempting to shame or using the force of the government to create serfs out of citizens.

What is happening is that social norms are changing, and older generations resent the changes. This has happened since forever.

Oh, yeah, you're the freaking idiot who claimed in these forums for months how fascism was what the liberals were espousing. You still don't get it, do you?

Isn't political correctness just a negative term for being polite?

Sort of just trying not to insult people or offend them?

    What's wrong with that?

    Intentions, intentions...
You're talking about good intentions and I am talking about bad results.

I have met white Americans who--without a trace of irony--passionately exclaim that
affirmative action is much more evil than slavery. Of course, they deny being racists.

Many white people seem to feel terribly oppressed if they no longer can vent their racism in public as freely as before.

If I could get this in writing, that I am white, that is. 😛

Your complaint is not clearly expressed.

Are you saying that people from "eastern" countries - perhaps formerly communist ones - have difficulty establishing acceptable behaviour in Western countries, or get into conflict by unintentionally transgressing norms - presumably connected with equality of women or minorities?

Thing is that unless you are more clear your post simply looks like something it may be and may not be - a whining complaint about public opposition to sexist / racist / generally offensive behaviour.

I'd hate to judge you on the basis of a misunderstanding. I'll cheerfully judge you once you explain your point.

The first part (*about Easterners that is) was my concern. I had in mind several cases, Serbian volley girl offended China people with slant eyes on their photo, and I was held for non-PC words when I wrote complaint to a chess umpire and recently here when I mentioned crazy grandmothers...
It is interesting that Westerners are ready to accept killing wives with stones and Sharia laws as a result of A CULTURE, whilst they will execute bad words from Eastrners' mouth...
    Long story.

But I am not shy from other part of your post, but I wouldn't call it "whining" against PC in general, I am telling that PC became lawyers' new golden thread and new weapon in public debates, new difficulty in over-regulated public affairs, even for white Westerners.

The ones who support multiculturalism without reservation, including Sharia law ghettos.

Gee, could you point out the specific articles justifying "killing wives with stones"?

    Thanks.
